Questions

Safari: how do I turn it on?

Mac: open the Spartan Shield app once, then in Safari choose Safari › Settings › Extensions, tick Spartan Shield, click Edit Websites… and set When visiting other websites to Allow.
iPhone and iPad: open Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions › Spartan Shield, turn it on and set Other Websites to Allow.

Why does Safari ask about website access?

Safari lets you decide which websites an extension may work on. Ads and trackers are blocked even without access, but scam warnings, dangerous-site blocking and page clean-up need it. Spartan Shield doesn't send anything about the sites you visit anywhere.

A website doesn't work properly

Open the Spartan Shield popup on that site and choose Pause on this site, or add it under Settings › Allowed websites. Please email me the address so I can fix the filters for everyone.

It blocked a site that is safe

On the warning page you can choose Proceed anyway to open it once. Email me the address and I'll check it and take it off the list in the next update.

How can I check it's working?

Open Settings › Test blocking. It checks that the filters are active and runs a safe test for dangerous, adult and gambling sites, without visiting any real one.
